Jules Ku-Lea is a registered counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) and holds a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology (Reg #10001345). Jules helps parents-to-be and parents make sense of pregnancy, the postpartum period, and the demands of toddlerhood.
Prior to working with parents, Jules worked as a mental health worker on Vancouver's Downtown East Side helping clients with addiction and severe mental illness. She obtained her Master’s Degree at Adler University, and completed her internship at Royal Columbia Hospital— working with mothers who were experiencing antenatal and postpartum anxiety and depression. It was here, Jules fell in love with helping mothers and babies. Jules opened up Kulea Counselling in 2016 and has since been serving the North Shore and Whistler community as a psychotherapist.
Jules has two little boys; and understands the joy, gratification, and heart-melting moments of parenting, as well as the exhaustion, frustration, and pull-your-hair out moments— and the impact raising babies can have on families.
Jules is an active meditation and mindfulness practitioner and has studied in monasteries across the world; including India, Thailand, Burma, and Sri Lanka. She uses evidence-based practices to nudger her clients in the right direction. Including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-Based interventions, as well as Developmental Psychology, and Attachment-Based parenting. Jules believes the path to full and meaningful life emerges when we accept where we're at, get clear with our values, and commit to mindful action. She is dedicated to helping her clients thrive.
In her free time you can find Jules outdoors savoring nature with her family, and of course, chasing around her sweet little boys.
